Welcome to our Summer issue of Progression! So, the good news… we have dates for the annual trip to Folembray for 2021 – Friday 30th July to Sunday 1st of August – but there are only about 20 spaces remaining and with new members joining all the time, you can be sure it will be sold out.

More good news… Observing and social riding has restarted! Yes, our social rides must be in smaller groups but we can still have them. The September Course for new associates is going ahead as planned and we have a few keen members interested in becoming observers too.

It’s also reassuring to know that our Observers continue to maintain a high standard as Mr Fitzgerald sailed through his National Observer retest in July. Well done Anthony!

That said, we would always like to have more observers, so please get in touch if you would like to find out more.

Many of us, including me, are not going abroad this year and that means… yes, more riding time. So, and this is especially for all our Associates, don’t sit in wondering what to do, get out and practise. Ask someone from your course to join you. Pick an aspect of riding: bends, motorways, overtaking or bends and enjoy yourselves. Your Observers are always on hand for advice and may even have time for an extra observed ride, if you have been putting the practise in.

YouTube anyone? Committee Member, Angelo Villaschi, has been playing with his toys and posting the results on YouTube as NooBiker. Definitely worth a look. Well done and keep posting please Angelo. Is anyone else uploading bike related media? Do share.

Remember to keep a lookout on the Forum for news, social rides and other bike related chatter and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Ride safe,
Anthony McNamara

Anthony joined ELAM in 2014 on a Honda Varadero after riding for just six months. Since then he’s had two Z1000sx, one of which he still has and he also owns a Transalp. After passing his test he’s led a few social rides, become a LO, treated himself to a few track days and several tours of France. Since 2018 he’s been our Group Chair and now our newest NO.
